What to know

Sukkot commemorates the clouds of glory and the booths of the wilderness journey. We leave the solid house for a fragile roof and remember that shelter is a gift.

The first day(s) are Yom Tov with candle lighting. Chol Hamoed (the intermediate days) carry festival joy without the full Yom Tov candle cycle in most Diaspora calendars — Shabbat within Chol Hamoed still has Friday candles.

Prepare with Shabbat7

• Build or confirm your sukkah before Erev Sukkot. Check first-night candle lighting with margin.
• Prepare the lulav and etrog in advance. Know which nights need Yom Tov candles versus ordinary Chol Hamoed.
• Disconnect when Yom Tov begins. Use Shabbat7 for planning — not for scrolling under the schach.
